F.A.Q.

Q: It's so hip to be green these days. How are you really keeping it eco-friendly?

Our inks are water-based, oppsed to the industry standard plastisol-based, ie. plastic-based inks. Plastisol inks contain a lot of chemicals, plus it takes even more chemicals to clean them up. On a hot summer day when those numbers on the back of your sports jersey are heating up, that's those cruddy plastisol inks in effect. With existing knowledge, no inks will ever be totally non-toxic due to the pigments needed, but water-based inks are the next best thing.

All our printing is done by hand on our manual press. We also do the little things - use CFL bulbs, reuse shipping materials, recycle test shirts into other products, make business cards with our test prints.

We try to use mostly sweatshop-free, fair-trade and/or organic blank apparel for our shirt supplies. It's up to you, our customer, to support that choice!

Q: What's the best way I can care for my new favorite shirt/tea towel?

The secret is washing in cold water only. Your items will maintain color and shape longer. Hang drying is great, tumble drying on low is acceptable. Never wash in hot water.

Q: I own a boutique and would like to sell your shirts. Do you do wholesale?

Yes, please contact us at for a line sheet.

Q: My band is having a concert. Can you make us a poster?

Yes, our design rate is $30/hour with a $50 minimum. Time spent making changes you choose to request will be charged. We have a very fast turnaround, and can ship within two weeks of ordering, or faster with a rush fee. Costs for materials and the initial $50 minimum design fee must be paid up front, and the rest will be charged upon shipping.

Q: What's your turnaround rate?

Turnaround rates for wholesale orders, custom shirt printing orders and posters all average around 2 weeks. Max time is three weeks, rushed orders can be done within 5 days.

Q: I have a design I want printed on shirts. Can you help?

It depends on what you are looking for. Because we use high-quality inks that dye the fabric rather than sit on top, our inks, while sharp and bright on white and light-colored shirts, will appear more as a 'vintage fade' on darker colors. Furthermore, screenprinting has nothing in common with your computer printer. We cannot print 256 colors. Take a look in our gallery for an idea of what several colors look like on a shirt.

Q:I really wanted my design printed on black shirts.

Yeah, we don't like to do that. We can, but it will cost an extra $1 per shirt.

Q: I have a doodle I want printed. Can you help?

Our design rate is $30/hour with a $50 minimum.

Q: I don't need design help, I just want something printed.

Colors must be pre-seperated into their own files, with each color turned to black. So if you have a 3 color design, we should receive one file with the design appearing as you want it, plus 3 files of black images that make up the whole design. Accepted file formats are Photoshop, Illustrator or PDF. Resolution must be 300 dpi or higher. We will not attempt to print low resolution files.
